Letter: Funding priorities?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

During the September Mathews Board of Supervisors meeting, chairman Paul Hudgins proudly introduced the addition of a new security camera and monitor that appeared to be continually filming and projecting the Confederate war memorial outside the historic courthouse. He commented that this new setup was recording, “24 hours, 7 days a week.”

I am hopeful that the board will soon explain to county taxpayers when, why and with what funds this purchasing decision was made. In the meantime, I’ll just continue my wait on any county funds that could help acquire a licensed teacher for my son’s fourth grade classroom.
