Editor, Gazette-Journal:

It was a sad day for Gloucester County residents when the Laurel Shelter closed its doors! How did this happen in this strong, caring and very supportive community?

Why was the community not informed of the shelter’s needs? Were churches and organizations informed of its needs?

Now an abused person will have a more difficult time in seeking help! And they have enough problems to deal with!

As one of the founders of the Laurel Shelter, I am so disappointed over the loss of this shelter to our community.

I want to thank everyone who supported the shelter with their time, talents, materials and financial assistance.
