Letter: Fouling our own nest

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Why are humans the only creature that would foul its own nest?

In anticipation of this year’s Gloucester Clean Up from March 26-28 this glorious 2021 spring season, I want to strongly encourage all citizens to participate and take pride in our historic environs.

I am spearheading a cleanup of historic Ware Neck Road on Saturday, March 27. Then I will lobby the county to erect “Keep Gloucester Green” signs to deter litter in problem areas. This is the key and an important deterrent to prevent trash, while ongoingly keeping roadsides picked up. Of particular note, Route 14 from Ware Neck Church east to the T-bone stoplight is badly trashed in the median and shoulders. This is not making a good impression of our home. This is about pride of place! Something we can all agree on and not be politicized. Let’s find ways to bring us all together for the common good, and help develop respect for Mother Nature.
