Letter: Forrest for school board

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I am writing to express my support for Lorraine Forrest for School Board.

Lorraine is currently serving on the school board, having been appointed to fill an unexpected vacancy. That means she has already learned the ropes. Since she has served well and knows what she’s doing, why not give her a chance to serve a whole term of her own? It doesn’t make sense to replace her.

Besides knowing the job, she knows the county. She is actually from Mathews County and attended Mathews County Public Schools. Why replace her with a newcomer who can’t possibly understand the complexities of this county’s way of life?

More importantly, Lorraine Forrest is a person of integrity and intelligence. She has spent years helping others in the county through such organizations as Hands Across Mathews, Meals on Wheels, and the Continentals.
