"Fertile farms and smiling waters" is a motto that can still illuminate the path for Mathews voters proceeding to the polls on Nov. 5. One candidate for county supervisor, Jack White, is a local businessman who was an early advocate for oyster farming in Mathews County waters.
Over the years he has built a successful commercial operation in addition to motivating many of us to take up oyster gardening. Not only does he have the sunburned credentials of working on the water, he has years of experience in dealing with the intricacies of the federal Clean Water Act, the driver of the ever-growing burden of federal and state regulations affecting land and shorelines in Mathews County.
Space does not permit a summary of his extensive involvement in Mathews County community affairs. Suffice it to say, I can think of no better addition to the Mathews County Board of Supervisors than Jack White, a man with extensive Mathews ties, knowledge of value to us property...
