Letter: For Gibbs

As we all know, on Nov. 8 we will be voting for a new Mathews School Board member for 2023. I believe in politics; it does not matter who the candidate is, but what he or she stands for. The candidates for school board, Mari Gibbs and Lorraine Forrest, had the opportunity at a candidate forum Monday and at this debate, they had the opportunity to express their viewpoints regarding what they think is best for the school curriculum and how they will support the teachers’ needs and how they will respond to parents’ concerns at the school board meetings.
I was in the auditorium the last time Lorraine Forrest ran for the school board and, at that debate, someone in the audience asked every candidate the same question: Would you support CRT in our schools? Every candidate answered “no” except for Forrest; she declined to answer.
