Letter: For Gibbs

The silver lining in COVID-19 is that parents learned that the educational system has been hijacked by a “woke” ideology. The focus on basic skills has been replaced with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion—“EdEquityVA” (https://doe.virginia.gov). Many parents are alarmed about the inappropriate topics being introduced to their children.

Fortunately, Mari Gibbs is running for a seat on the Mathews County School Board. She is well qualified for this position. Mari has earned a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. She has vast experience working with teachers and students.

Mari will encourage transparency and follow Virginia’s Rights of Parents Law (Va. Code 1-240-1). This law states that “a parent has a fundamental right to make decisions concerning the upbringing, education and care of the parent’s child.” She is committed to bringing back the basics and improving the skills that are necessary for student...
