Letter: For Crowley, 98th District

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I cast my absentee ballot this week for Sheila Crowley. Unlike other campaigns, I made an effort to know this newcomer. Here is what I learned:

Sheila is smart and compassionate. She understands public policy and people. While she has never served in public office, she has dedicated her career to serving people; especially those less fortunate.

“Your Voice for the Common Good” is her campaign slogan. I didn’t think it was very catchy, but it exemplifies who she is. Sheila is a person who believes families shouldn’t have to choose between feeding their children or purchasing medicine. Working families and elderly shouldn’t live in substandard housing; not in the 98th District or anywhere in this country.

A strong public education system contributes to a vibrant economy, and economic growth is not contingent on dismantling essential environment regulation that affords us clean water and healthy ecosystems. Sheila knows that commu...
