Mark A. Truscott (“The case for Keith,” Sept. 21 Readers Write) is very wrong. Our representation in the House of Delegates is not only broken but puts the lives of people in our community at risk.

Delegate Hodges stood up at a recent meeting and proudly proclaimed that Medicaid expansion would never pass in Virginia. How could anyone be so proud of denying 400,000 hardworking Virginians affordable health care? Delegates in the neighboring states of West Virginia and Maryland cared enough to pass Medicaid expansion five years ago.

If you or someone you know has ever struggled to make ends meet, you know that putting off seeing a doctor and going without lifesaving medications is often a necessity. I know people who have died from illnesses that could have been cured or controlled if they had seen a doctor in time or could have afforded their prescription drugs.
