Thanks for the opportunity to express gratitude; for me this year, I’m grateful for the right to vote, most recently in our November 5th elections--specifically the local contests in Mathews.

Thank you to all who chose to run, especially those giving us a range of choices for the open seats on the Board of Supervisors.

Thank you to all who served at the polling places making it easy to cast our votes.

And a special “Thank You” to Charles Ingram, and to his family, for all the years served on the board, giving so much of your time and earnest energy despite the personal sacrifices.

And, thank you, Gazette-Journal, for the support this newspaper provided in coverage of the forums and the candidates’ profiles, and for the sample ballots that helped me prepare before voting.
