Letter: For a good start

What makes me thankful? I’m thankful for the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal for introducing me to newspapers. As a “juvenile delinquent” and failing student, a reform program gave me an apprenticeship opportunity as a printer’s assistant at the GJ in 1974. In the 50 years since, I’ve reported for local, national, and international news outlets. But it all started at the flywheel of a platen press and the smell of printer’s ink in the backroom of the GJ. May you thrive and survive to spark generations to come. Thank you.
