Letter: Food From The Heart event a success

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Another successful two days of the Food From The Heart fundraiser culminated in over 250 bags of food and over $12,000 in support of our Gloucester County food pantries!

The events were highlighted with the work of U.S. Foods’ executive chef Bill Brooks and his team. Our local chefs who gave their time and talents were fabulous!

Our thanks to Mark Letchworth from the Mathews Yacht Club; Andrew Pluim, a Gloucester native currently serving in the Air Force; Brock Houston from the James River Country Club; and Art Britto from Rosemary and Wine. This fundraiser also could never happen without the volunteers who serve the tasty food prepared by the chefs.

The churches who will benefit from Food From The Heart are: Abingdon Episcopal Church, which runs the weekend Backpack Program for school children who might not have enough food over the weekend before they head back to school on Monday; St. Therese Catholic Church, which runs the Bread for Life Foo...
