Letter: Focus on the people’s issues

What is with all the angry hateful emotional rhetoric? Does it help our society come to grips with its needs or to address the life issues of today? 

You know that answer? Denigration divides us and is a distraction from the real issues.

“Issues” and “solutions” should be the focus of our political discussion not whether a person is a Democrat or Republican and then bashing that person because of it. We should instead focus on what the person has done, is doing or will do for our people and our country. 

For example, in a recent communication Congressman Wittman talks of support to eliminate the “donut hole” in Medicare prescription drug coverage. Don’t misunderstand me, I think that is great step in the right direction, but in fact it does not go far enough to address the real issues of high drug prices and conduct of the drug industry.
