Letter: Fighting the terrible beast of childhood cancer

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

 

A vicious demon our children does stalk,

Its intention is death, like a circling hawk.

Terror and suffering is the name of its game,

Rich, poor, black or white, it treats all the same.

It does not take pity; it’s a merciless foe,

It attacks from the inside and kills as it grows.

How shall we fight this terrible beast,

Who children and maybe you will have for its feast?

Knowledge the weapon and prayer the cure,

But money is needed to make knowledge more sure.

Grease up your wallets and soften your hearts,

For with you, yes with you, is where the fight starts.

If your child was held in the jaws of this monster,

Is that what’d take for you to be a sponsor?

Please do not tarry and don’t hesitate,

For by then your money just might be too late.

They say time is money and money is time,

And with time and your money a cure we will find.

A shave for a haircut, it ain’t no big deal
