Letter: False information muddies political waters

Editor, Gazette Journal:

During this latest election campaign, I have been amazed at the amount of false information that has been thrown out to the public concerning both political parties. With the internet, it is quite easy to check these "facts" to make sure that they are not only true, but are also taken in context. Although I consider myself an independent, I would like to respond to Ms. Frye and her letter to a patriotic Democrat (Oct. 4 Readers Write).

There is a budget every year because it is the law. This president does not insist the war on terror is over—that statement was made by a State Department official. This president did not claim that the Fort Hood massacre was "Workplace Violence"—that claim was made by a Defense Department official. Mr. Obama called it "a terrorist massacre." This president has not increased America’s debt more than all other presidents combined.
