Letter: Elections have consequences

Given the recent death of the indomitable “Liberal Lion,” Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg over the weekend, much will change in the months ahead. At stake is too much power to be ignored by either party.

The Warren Court forever changed the notion of the Supreme Court legislating from the bench. It now appears that the pendulum will swing back the other way for the foreseeable future, thus the craziness we will all witness in the months to come (much of it is nonsense).

Dating back to George Washington, at least 14 U.S. presidents have filled 21 court vacancies during an election year. This time should be no different. President Trump will pick a conservative woman to replace Justice Ginsburg, much to the chagrin of the Democrat Party and Joe Biden.
