I am a longtime resident of Mathews County and a graduate of Mathews High School, and served as a school administrator in our county for 12 years. However, my intent is to share with you (and others) my thoughts regarding Mathews County Sheriff’s candidate April Edwards.
For over 40 years, I have been blessed to have known Major Edwards. We were high school classmates, we worked together when she served several years as School Resource Officer, and as an Investigator with the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office. I can say, without reservation, that Major Edwards has always been the same person. She has always been passionate, hardworking, dedicated, and willing to place the needs of others above herself. Such attributes are indicative of a leader who possesses the heart of a servant.
