Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I have read several letters written on Dr. Bambi Thompson’s behalf in her bid to join the Mathews School Board. Anyone who knows her knows that the facts mentioned in previous letters are true. She has 30 years of experience in education and her credentials show that she is a well-rounded educator who obtained certifications in several areas.

But there is so much more to know about Bambi. Dr. T, as she was known to her staff and students, literally had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She made it a priority to know each student by name and worked to build relationships based on trust and respect. She knew her students’ needs and worked with staff to find ways to provide the best educational paths to meet those needs.

Dr. Thompson always said, “If we make our decisions based on what is best for the child, then we can’t be wrong.” She encouraged teachers to be their best by treating them as professionals. Her staff played an ...
