Editor, Gazette-Journal: Living in an area where most voters supported Representative Wittman for the past 19 years does not mean voters must continue to do so. I suggest that all registered voters take a closer look at Representative Wittman. Did you know Wittman voted 74 percent of the time in lockstep with MAGA Republicans? He also voted for “The Big Beautiful Bill” which cut funding to Medicaid. This is a huge blow especially to our rural hospitals (Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock is listed as “at closure risk” along with 35 other rural hospitals across the Commonwealth). Are you also aware how much Representative Witt-man’s personal finances have grown (from his initial reported earnings of around $100,000 in 2007 to his current reported wealth of $5.6 million. He managed to do this in under 20 years!)? His assets also include an eight-bedroom beach house on the Outer Banks which he also reportedly voted to cut taxes on, potentially saving him up to $60,000...
