Letter: Don’t mow your daffodils

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

As Grand Marshal of this year’s Daffodil Festival parade, I would like to thank all the committee volunteers and the county staff for coordinating a great event. Well done!

I would like to remind everyone not to mow the daffodil greens, just let them die back. This is less work and saves your investment. The greens provide nutrition to the bulb for the growth of the new flower for next year.

Advice from horticulturists in magazine articles and advice from the American Daffodil Society reinforces this treatment of the daffodil tops.  Please do not mow, cut or tie them down them.
