Letter: Dominion’s conundrum

I recently read a very thoughtful article authored by Mr. James Bacon and published in his online blog (www.baconsrebellion.com), where he pointedly explains the prevailing issues involving construction of an additional nuclear power plant at North Anna. He cites the argument posed by Dominion Resources to keep open the option of a third nuclear unit in case federal and state regulations impose strict carbon controls on Virginia’s electric utilities.

As Mr. Bacon explains the matter, Dominion is not advocating construction of North Anna 3. There is no indication that it even wants to build North Anna 3. Rather, it is preserving the option should political and regulatory developments leave it no alternative.
