Letter: Disappointed in Biden’s remarks

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I would like to voice my disappointment in regard to the current President’s remarks made in his speech on 9-11. The speech was filled with hate and divisiveness. I was hoping it would have been more unifying.

He labeled all MAGA Americans as a “threat to the Republic.” That would cover a substantial number of military personnel. I find that a direct insult, a slap in the face, to those serving currently and in the past.

I personally knew a lot of veterans that served in Viet Nam who no longer have some limbs and have post-traumatic stress disorder, and they suffer every day of their lives.

The language of the commander in chief calling these people a “threat to democracy” was misspoken. He is the threat.

In the future the President needs to have writers proofread his speeches before standing before the podium and disparage the citizens of this country, especially members of the military whom I hold close to my heart.
