Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Mary Kathryn Diggs will make a most excellent member of the Mathews County School Board. I have known her since we went to Lee-Jackson together 70 years ago. I know that she loves Mathews County with her whole being and wants to do what she can to help keep the county the very special place that it is.
Most of Mary Kathryn’s professional career was spent in schools teaching children, being a part of a faculty and working with parents. Therefore, if elected, she will be a school board member who is well qualified to address issues facing students, teachers and parents.
She will work hard to make the Mathews school system a leader and innovator at all levels of instruction and in school-sponsored extracurricular activities. Since outstanding schools are a major element in attracting new families to an area, Mary Kathryn will explore every avenue available to make our schools a reason families would want to come to Mathews to raise their children.
Having Mary Kathryn as a member of the school board would ensure a voice speaking for students, teachers and parents to improve the quality of the entire public-school experience. If you desire a smart, experienced and dedicated person making wise decisions for our schools, please give Mary Kathryn Diggs your vote.
