Letter: Demand integrity in our leaders

Recently there have been a number of new reports about an ethics issue related to Gov. McAuliffe’s chief of staff. If he is serious about ethics reform, Gov. McAuliffe should fire his chief of staff for calling former state Senator Phil Puckett and essentially offering his daughter an agency directorship in exchange for Puckett staying in the Senate.

Regardless of the outcome of the federal investigation into the matter, I agree that McAuliffe needs to fire his chief of staff immediately. His chief of staff’s actions are unethical and inexcusable.

Likewise, I am very disturbed by recent reports that Sen. Mark Warner may also have been involved in this scandal. It has been reported that Warner may have called Puckett’s son to discuss a federal judgeship for his sister in order to keep Phil Puckett in his state Senate seat.
