Letter: Delivering meals and smiles

The Bay Aging Board of Directors and staff want to thank all who supported the Meals on Wheels fundraiser recently at Mathews High School. Meals on Wheels, an Older Americans Act service, is based on the 1951 model originating in England during World War II. Today, there are more than 5,000 senior nutrition programs that operate through Area Agencies on Aging throughout the United States.

For several years, Bay Aging has contracted with the Mathews school division to prepare nutritious meals for homebound seniors and for the seniors who attend the Mathews Active Lifestyle Center. Nelda Gibbs and her staff put their heart and soul into preparing foods that seniors love and for which Bay Aging is grateful for the partnership.
