Letter: Critical of editorial decision

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

The majority of our small community supports the Gazette-Journal publication by its mere purchase which, in turn, lends support to you and your staff. To some, Thursday is the highlight of their week. A section called Readers Write is reserved for those who wish to share with, express an opinion about or comment on a subject of importance to them. We appreciate this special space just for us.

There have been several instances in the past when the symbol of the Confederate battle flag was a major topic in the paper. People who wouldn’t ordinarily speak out in public found themselves writing to you about this very personal issue. Liken it to an election year when people want others to know what they think about a candidate or the pros and cons of a debate subject. Each week, the section was filled.
