Editor, Gazette-Journal:In the 2024 election Trump received 49.8 percent of the vote and Kamala Harris received 48.3 percent of the vote. More people voted against him than voted for him. Thus, he has no mandate.What confounds me is that the power the present administration is pursuing, they could have gained it by taking a positive approach instead of the negative approach. Instead of pouring billions into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the military and tax breaks for the billionaires, they could have used that money to help immigrants become documented thus gaining these folks as voters.Instead of cutting Medicaid, SNAP, and CDC, they could have moved toward universal health care, bringing many people to their side. The things they are trying to “accomplish” through fear, they could have accomplished through helping all of the people of the United States.The problem is that Trump and his crew are owned by the oligarchs.
