Beginning in the 1960s, the Supreme Court drastically reinterpreted the First Amendment to guarantee the right to engage in subversive speech as political speech. Almost overnight, what was once construed as subversive and incitement became mere advocacy. Congress and the elites scoffed at the fears of communism penetrating our government and institutions. The statutory basis for excluding and deporting individuals based upon ideological beliefs regardless of their subversive tendencies were removed, gutted, at least in the demonstrable ties to terrorism, espionage or sabotage.
It is evident that the then-Supreme Court and Congress failed to grasp the true nature of the enemy. Since then our leadership has failed to understand the subversive influences that continue to threaten this nation and its people. It is hoped that the government might yet experience a Pogo moment where they might recognize the enemy as themselves.
