Letter: Constitutional Convention a bad idea

The attacks on our Constitution continue, and unfortunately, they often come from well-meaning conservatives. Why is it so important to keep our Constitution? Consider. What is it that has made our country the envy of the world? We don’t have more natural resources than others. Our people aren’t superior—indeed, we are a mix of all the countries of the world. It is because of the freedoms our Constitution provides. It is our form of government that has made it possible for us to have the opportunities and advantages we are so privileged to enjoy.

One of the latest threats to our Constitution is a call for a Constitutional Convention (Con Con). Well-meaning people have supported it with the thought that it would produce a worthwhile amendment or such.
