Letter: Consider giving some of your time

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

During the past year, the Piankatank Ruritan Club was able to donate over $12,000 back into the community of Mathews. The bulk of that was for the Mathews Little League and scholarships to a few graduating Mathews High School seniors.

We as a Ruritan club could do so much, except we are limited by something everyone says they don’t have enough of and that is … TIME.  We are limited by the 24 hours in a day we are given. With more people we create more time. You ask: How is that possible? Well, if you have more people you can spread the workload out. You can do more projects or put on more events without it being the same people doing the work. 

This past year our members donated nearly 3,000 hours of their time in various events (Market Days, chicken dinners), running the club and providing meals to other civic groups that use our club for their meetings.
