Letter: Conduct countywide study on fire stations

I have lived in Gloucester for 65 years and I applaud the job that each and every one of our volunteer organizations does each year, with the special emphasis on our fire stations in several locations. Property has been recently acquired for a new fire station on Main Street, and I just question the egress in and out when in actuality we need a much broader spectrum for each fire station.

Money is not plentiful, and I suggest we do a study for the entire county and see how the money is best spent to broaden our service to the entire county based on population and businesses in each area.

Our Main Street, with the help of the Cook Foundation and the Gloucester Main Street Association, now has additional restaurants, a wonderful volunteer art gallery, and the Virginia Symphony’s annual performance.
