Letter: Concerned about Burns’s leadership on regional board

The announcement in the March 26 edition of the Gazette-Journal that Mathews supervisor Janine Burns was elected chair of the executive council of the Chesapeake Bay Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) is a concern. She was appointed to the LGAC by Gov. Terry McAuliffe in 2014. LGAC “works to engage local governments, businesses and citizens as partners in bay preservation efforts.” This article also stated that, as chairman, she would also sit on the Chesapeake Executive Council’s Principals’ Staff Committee “which recommends policies for the executive council’s consideration and approval.” She is also on the management board, which “provides strategic planning, priority setting and operational guidance for the Chesapeake Bay program.”
