Letter: Community’s support for Alyssa overwhelming

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all in our community who have showed support for “Faith in Wheels” in countless ways. I would also like to share the mission and background for those who may not be aware. 

“Faith in Wheels” is a mission for Alyssa Briggs. Alyssa is a 21-year-old resident of Gloucester and a 2013 graduate of Mathews High. When she was 6 years old, she was in a horrific car accident with her family, which resulted in 12 multiple surgeries and left her confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Alyssa is limited greatly and has an important need for independence. She is capable of driving with the right accommodations, but she is currently hindered by not having a handicap-accessible van that she can drive.
