Letter: Community’s response to tragedy appreciated

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Two weeks ago an unexpected tragedy happened in the Mathews community that deeply affected the high school student body and faculty. I am overwhelmed by the number of parents, clergy and professionals, some from neighboring counties, who volunteered their time to help us. It is impossible to make a complete list of individuals who appeared to comfort and counsel our students, so please know that we thank you for stepping in and stepping up to assist us.

There is no tangible way to repay your kindness; however, please know each of you, by your actions, have been a great example of how to step up and support our students and staff in our time of need.

Albert C. Green, M.Ed.

Principal, Mathews High School
