Letter: Community support crucial to success of ALMP

Adult Literacy on the Middle Peninsula, Inc., is like any and every nonprofit organization today; we are dependent upon community support to sustain our programs in order for our vision and mission to remain vital to the community.

During April ALMP, again, became book givers through the World Book Night organization with the kind cooperation of three locally owned businesses: Gloucester Pharmacy, Hudgins Pharmacy and Hurd’s Hardware. Without the enthusiastic support of these three businesses, our volunteers would not have been able to share the love of reading with the community. We are grateful to these businesses for their support and positive reception.

ALMP was pleased to be able to recognize, with the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, two organizations: the Mathews Lions Club and the Mathews Market Days Committee, and two citizens: George S. Rhodes and Ronald Myers, for what each group and individual has done to make the community a bet...
