Letter: Community spirit

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

The Mathews Land Conservancy wishes to thank the members of the Mathews Rotary Club for the recent work completed at our Bayside location in Bavon at the end of Old Bayside Drive. On two gruelingly hot Saturdays, club members completed a fence to secure the property from some recent vandalism.

Vehicles are now welcome to park outside the fence and access the site through a four-foot-wide walk through area. The club also plans to repair the ruts and reseed the grass area. The MLC would like to also thank David and Pam Muffelman who volunteer their time every year to cut grass and maintain the site.

The property remains open to the public from sunrise to sunset daily and, with a lovely open-air pavilion, it is a perfect spot to view the Bay and the New Point Lighthouse. Thank you, once again, Mathews Rotary Club, for this project and the many service grants that you offer this community each year.
