Letter: Community cooperation on display

For three years, the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad has allowed the Mathews County Resources Council to meet at their facility. We have always been most appreciative for that privilege.

This past Thursday, the MVRS not only continued that practice, but also extended the use for four hours to allow the Resources Council to share with area professionals a program to enhance and enrich the services that agencies, organizations and nonprofits offer their clients. The participants represented departments of social services, school systems, school boards, nonprofits and other agencies from Mathews, Gloucester, Middlesex and Essex counties and the City of Williamsburg.

Community cooperation and interaction, whether in buildings or personnel, is what makes Mathews a place of growth and vibrancy.

Thank you on behalf of all who participated and learned at this month’s MCRC/“Bridges Out of Poverty” meeting.
