Editor, Gazette-Journal: I saw a sign the other day that nearly made me spit out my coffee. It read “Vote Common Sense Vote Republican.” Common sense? This administration doesn’t have an ounce of common sense. They started a war with Iran with no clear goals, no plan, no thought as to the possible consequences and no exit strategy. Now we’re involved in an extremely costly and deadly war that is rapidly depleting our military supplies. The Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed and this administration’s hope is to reopen it. Wasn’t it open before the war? This administration has started a tariff war that has raised prices on just about everything and now they’re threatening an all-out trade war on our closest ally and largest trading partner Canada. Lumber alone has increased by 25 percent raising significantly the cost of home building while this country faces a shortage of affordable housing.
