Letter: Clarifies her Sept. 7 letter

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I was so glad that someone responded to my letter about honesty and trust concerning our elected officials and their campaign and news.

Sadly, in the letter (“Northam champions the right to choose,” Sept. 7 Readers Write) I was misquoted that Dr. Ralph Northam “champions” a woman to abort her pregnancy. No, he will do all possible to help her take such an action.

We are having the wrong “debate.” The current “debate” is a woman’s right to choose “what is best for her.” Not much is said about what is best for the baby that is alive in the woman’s womb.

The statement that there are “myriad reasons” for such drastic action says a lot. Seldom is it to protect the life of the mother—seldom is it the result of rape and seldom is it really a decision taken seriously.

Abortion has become birth control. Saying it is safer now than it was 20+ years ago does not make it any more...
