I am writing in support of Sheila Crowley, candidate for the House of Delegates in our district. I also want to respond briefly to Ken Larson’s letter (“Against Crowley,” Oct. 19 Readers Write).
In response to Mr. Larson—Sheila Crowley has never been a government employee at the local, state or federal level. She spent her career as a dedicated professional in the private nonprofit sector, bringing her considerable talents to the issue of affordable housing. I believe her dedication to public service is part of a proud American tradition.
Kent Willis does not have a law degree so has never been a lawyer. He did retire as executive director of the ACLU of Virginia. The ACLU provides legal services to all. Mr. Larson cited the Gavin Grimm case and I would point out that the ACLU recently went to court in Charlottesville to protect the right of a white supremacist to hold his infamous rally at Lee Park.
