Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I have never understood why the elementary school is named after Lee and Jackson, two men who apparently never set foot in Mathews County.

There are so many people who were born, lived and contributed to Mathews County. Why not name the school after one of them? It would go a long way toward honoring someone who made this wonderful place what it is today. Please change the name. It’s the right thing to do. Plus it will highlight someone we can ALL applaud.
