A huge "thank you" goes out to Mac and J.C. Casale for bringing the Chasing Pavement Vintage Automotive Festival to Mathews. We were blessed with perfect weather as 400+ beautiful vintage cars rolled into Mathews early Saturday morning. The event was well organized and the cars were quickly positioned in their designated locations.

All of our wonderful restaurants were inundated with hungry customers, and local shop owners had far more than the ordinary number of Saturday customers. The grass along the roadways had all been neatly trimmed and ditch litter picked up by the event organizers. By the end of the day, there was no evidence that the event even took place. The car show goes a long way towards putting Mathews on the map as a great place to spend a day.

The Mathews Visitor and Information Center’s mission statement is to bring tourism to Mathews. This was a perfect example of doing just that. I look forward to an even bigger and better vers...
