Letter: Bumping along in Mathews

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Cars, buses, campers, ambulances, trucks and even hearses that have to pass the Food Lion area on Main Street in Mathews get to cross over a bump. There are even bump signs.

The bump is related to the ongoing drainage project. When the bump was installed, I thought that in just a few days a layer of asphalt would be poured to make a smoother ride through our downtown. Now, I guess it has been a couple of months and still a bump.

Do any of our board of supervisors’ membersor county administrator ride across this bump? Perhaps they have already addressed the bump problem. If they have not spoken with the contractor, perhaps they could and ask why we have this bump.

If the bump has to remain, then our officials could tell us why and how long we are going to be bumping along.
