Letter: Blame the school board, not supervisors

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Blame the school board, not the board of supervisors, for teacher cuts.

I disagree with the previous letter ("Cutting teachers ‘mean and unnecessary’," May 2 Readers Write) by Mr. Partin, blaming the board of supervisors for cutting the teachers from the first, second and third grades. The real blame goes to the school board and Mr. Kiser.

Addressing the closing of T.C. Walker School: the school board and Mr. Kiser decided to do so some months ago but, after closing the school, now they are spending $2.5 million to renovate the school while our children and my grandchildren go to eighth grade in trailers, having to walk in the rain and bad weather, when T.C. Walker could be used.

Not rebuilding Page on its site, which has water, sewer and utilities available is wrong. And the new school on T.C. Walker Road requires widening T.C. Walker Road, placing a signal light, a turn lane, developing the new site, new sewer pumping station, etc. The c...
