Letter: B&G Club dance was a success

Wow! What fun! The St. Patrick’s Day Food Drive Dance at the Mathews Boys & Girls Club on March 18, of course. As usually happens here in Mathews, there are many people to thank for the success of this teenage event.
First, “thank you” goes out to the Mathews Community Foundation who funded a grant to Coalition 4 Kids organizations to support teen leadership programs in the county for fall/winter of 2015. The Boys & Girls Club used their portion of grant monies to structure teens attending the club into The Keystone Club. This group of teens researched “Hunger in Our Own Backyard,” interviewed individuals in our community who are committed to ending food insufficiency among people of all ages in Mathews and published an article outlining what they learned in “Hunger in our own backyard: B&G Club members explore issue in Mathews” by Sheana Stroud in the Dec. 31, 2015 Gazette-Journal.
