Letter: Be aware of propaganda

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Back in 1964, Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, when trying to describe his threshold test for obscenity, said: “I know it when I see it.” I know propaganda when I see it. Google defines it as follows:

“Propaganda: information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.”

This week, for the second month, we have received in our mail an unsolicited and gratuitous copy of a thick rag posing as a newspaper, titled “The Epoch Times.” This publication is classic propaganda. It unabashedly uses fear-mongering to rail against a shadowy “They” who are “ruining” our country. The “They” referred to include the established media (the outlets which strive to determine facts in their reporting), the CDC, the Biden Administration and any other entity that does not fit the tilted world view of the editorial staff. The few items of actual news are colored with an obvious and extreme bias...
