Letter: Battling the opioid epidemic

Three Rivers Health District and Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps are excited to present free community education and training to the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. After receiving a grant from River Counties Community Foundation, we are not only able to expand our existing programs, but also add a new one!

For the last year and a half, the Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps has distributed over 2,500 Safe Medication Disposal Bags and trained over 350 community members in how to administer Narcan®, which reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. This year we will add “Until Help Arrives,” a national initiative to teach basic skills to help keep injured people alive and safe until professional help arrives.
