Letter: Backdoor dealings

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Just as I thought the fight over the health care bill was dead, it was been revived and quietly inserted through the backdoor via the budget. HConRes71, approved by Witt-

man and Taylor, proposes the same thing that failed last month by the Senate. Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program and Food Stamps will be turned over to the states for management. Medicare will become a voucher program.

It also repeals the Dodd-Frank Act which aims to hold banks and Wall Street accountable for mismanagement of funds. That act also required fund managers to make investments that are in the best interest of the investor, not the fund manager. Yes there are proposed tax cuts in there, nice ones especially for the wealthiest in our society and corporations.

Somehow I don’t think this is in my best interest, Mr. Witt-

man, but it sure seems to be in yours.
