Letter: Audacity

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Audacity: Bold or arrogant disregard of normal restraints.

The White House has done it again. For the last year there have been riots and calls to defund the police. Democrats have supported this notion openly or by their silence. Many cities around the country have drastically cut law enforcement budgets. Crime has gone up. Who would have guessed?

Polls now show that the vast majority of the public is not in favor of defunding the police. Can they now admit they were wrong? Of course not. The White House Press Secretary blamed it on the Republicans by saying they are the ones who are for defunding the police because they did not vote for a huge spending bill that didn’t mention the police once.

They know that a friendly press will spin this to hide the truth that the party that supported defunding for a year was willing to try to shift the blame as soon as they found the position was unpopular. Blame your rival for what you yourself are doing.
