Letter: Animal Control needs to be a full-time position

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Twenty years ago, I took a leap of faith and started a pet-sitting service. It has been a successful business and, as such, takes me from one end of the county to the other. I have been witness to a multitude of animal issues, both domestic and wildlife, and Mr. Horn has been invaluable to me on a number of occasions. He is a knowledgeable, compassionate, educated and professional individual, well versed in the scope of his position as Animal Control Officer.

I applaud and support what Ms. Allsbrook, Ms. Layer and Mr. Browder had to say at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting on Jan. 22. It is my fervid hope that the board does the correct thing and reinstates Mr. Horn to his previous full-time duties. If not, this county will lose a valuable resource, placing the citizens and animals, both domestic and wild, in a position where we would all suffer the consequences.
